Quick answer: your profection year follows your age in a 12-year cycle. At birth you are in a 1st house year, at age 1 a 2nd house year, and so on. To find yours, divide your age by 12 and use the remainder: remainder 0 means a 1st house year, remainder 1 a 2nd house year, up to remainder 11 for a 12th house year. So at 36 you are in a 1st house year, and at 33 you are in a 10th house year. The table below does the math for you.

What Are Annual Profections?
Annual profections are a timing technique from Hellenistic astrology, used for over 2,000 years. Each year of your life activates one house of your birth chart, in order, repeating every 12 years. The activated house sets the theme of your year: identity, money, relationships, career and so on.
The planet that rules the activated house becomes your timelord, also called the lord of the year. Transits involving your timelord carry extra weight that year. This is why two people can experience the same transit very differently.

How to Find Your Timelord
You need your rising sign (ascendant) and a birth chart that uses whole sign houses. Then:
- Find which house is activated for your age using the table above.
- Count houses from your rising sign. Your rising sign is house 1, the next sign is house 2, and so on.
- The planet that rules the sign on the activated house is your timelord. Example: Leo rising at age 33 means a 10th house year in Taurus, ruled by Venus. Venus runs your year.
- Watch your timelord. Its condition in your birth chart and its transits color the entire year.
