Heart Chakra Healing

12 Tips to remove Heart Chakra Blockages

In today’s post,  I would like to talk about the all important Heart Chakra Healing.

The heart chakra, also known as Anahata in Sanskrit, is the fourth of your body’s seven chakras. It is often considered the bridge between the physical and spiritual realms and stands for love, compassion, and harmony. It is associated with the element of air, the color green, and the sound “YAM.”

When your heart chakra is open and balanced, you will be able to give and receive love and feel connected to others around you. In addition, an open heart chakra can also help you to attract positive energy and relationships into your life.

However when your heart chakra becomes blocked or unbalanced, you can experience a number of physical and emotional symptoms.

On an emotional level you may feel lonely, isolated and are unable to connect on a deeper level with others. Moreover, you may also attract destructive and co-dependent partners.  Heart chakra blockages can also manifest as physical symptoms. Yes, you could even experience some physical discomfort such as chest discomfort, high blood pressure, and breathing problems.

Heart Chakra blockages can have a variety of causes. The damage may have started early if you have experienced physical or emotional abuse as a child or have been denied affection and love from your parents. Furthermore, a difficult relationship with a narcissitic partner or a painful breakup is also often a reason for heart chakra blockages.  Usually, negative emotional events that cause you to shut down from giving and receiving love are the most frequent life events that cause an unbalanced heart chakra.

Therefore it is super important to address heart chakra blockages in order to experience wellness and live a more loving and fulfilling life.

Fortunately, there are plenty of practices that you can include in your daily routine to help open and balance your heart chakra. In todays post I want to show you some of my favorite practices for Heart Chakra healing.

self care for positive energy

1. Heart Chakra Healing with Self Care

Firstly. it is super important to look after number 1. Only when you prioritize self-care and self-love can you connect with yourself on a deeper level and foster a feeling of love and acceptance. Make sure to take time for yourself. Take a long hot bath, treat yourself to a massage or a makeover. Make yourself a soothing cup of tea or have a sweet treat that you enjoy. Or simply into some comfy clothes to watch a movie or read a book you have been longing to get into. The most important thing is that you have some you time for yourself and spend time doing what you love.

2. Heart Chakra Healing in Nature

There are many studies that show that spending time in nature can help with healing. When you connect with the green colours of nature you awaken the green energy of the Anahata.

The soothing quality of the earth can help you feel more at ease and open up more. Simply taking a stroll in the local forest or sitting outside in the sun in a nearby park can help you feel more grounded and connected to all that is. In addition, gardening is another great activity if you are lucky to have a garden. But even potting plants in your home can help you remove heart chakra blockages.

asanas for opening your heart

3. Heart Opening Yoga Postures

Yoga is a great way to balance your heart chakra. Some Asanas are designed to stretch and expand your chest, enabling the energy to easily flow into the Anahata.

Here are some of the top heart-opening yoga positions you can try (some are mor diffiult than others 😉  I will give instructions in an upcoming post.

  • Camel Posture
  • Cobra Posture
  • Upward facing dog
  • Bridge
  • Fish Posture

4. Loving kindness meditation

Loving kindness meditation also called metta meditation is a wonderful heart chakra healing practice that can help you cultivate feelings of love, compassion as well as empathy for yourself and others.

To practice this meditation, take a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths. Then repeat the May I mantra shown in the image.

If you notice any distracting thoughts or resistance come up, just acknowledge it and let it pass without judging.

You can then also bring your attention to someone you love and repeat the mantra for them. Moreover you can also direct the mantra to someone you are currently having difficulty with and finally you can do one more round addressing all beings on planet earth.

When you have completed the mantras, simply take another few deep breaths, in and out, then open your eyes and relax.

This meditation is great to resolve heart chakra blockages. However, if you are having difficulty meditating by yourself, you can also listen to my loving kindess meditation on my podcast.

forgiveness

5. Practising Forgiveness

In order to promote Heart Chakra healing is is super important that you let go of any resentments that you my be harbouring. If you practice forgiveness you can not only release the negative feelings but you make room for more love and compassion.

You can practice forgiveness in a number of ways depending on the situation. If the person is close to you it is always best to meet for a coffee date or a walk in a park.  Try to show empathy by listening to their point of view.

You can also write a letter to someone you are having difficulty with (you don’t need to send it, if this is too hard or the person is not within reach)

Another powerful way is the Ho’oponopono forgiving prayer.

I’m sorry
I forgive you
Thank you
I love you

I have a powerful track for this for you here.

It is really important when practicing forgiveness to surrendering any of your expectations and embracing what is.

6. Selfless Acts of Kindness

Helping others without motive and in a selfless way is also a powerful way for heart chakra healing. Being kind and compassionate is deeply rewarding and good for your emotional health.

Some ways you can help other are:

  • Assisting a friend or family member in need
  • Paying for another person’s coffee or lunch
  • Volunteering at a local charity or organization
  • Helping at an animal shelter
  • Donating to a worthy cause
  • Offering to do something kind for a stranger

There are some wonderful videos on TikTok that show some incredible acts of compassion.

7. Green Foods

Adding leafy greens and other nutrient-dense green vegetables into your daily diet can benefit both your health and help with heart chakra healing. As you feed your body good green nutrients, you are also feeding the energy of your heart chakra.

A Green Juice in the morning is a great option. Simply juice a few apples, with a bunch of kale or spinach, add a thumb of ginger and the result is a yummy green energy juice.

I am also a fan of this green energy dip recipe. Also super simple. Just add some white beans, with a handful of bunch of kale, a clove of garlic, a glug of oil and a splash of water into a blender and whizz for a couple of minutes. Out comes a delicious spread. I like mine on some toasted brown bread with some chopped kale on top and a squeeze of lime. My new favorite breakfast dish. If I have face to face meetings I leave out the garlic 😉

heart chakra affirmations

8. Affirmations

Positive affirmations can be a powerful heart chakra healing tool. Just by focusing on the positivity of the words you will be able to release negative thoughts and shift your focus and energy toward love.

Before you say your affirmations take a few deep breaths and try to let go of any negative thoughts and resentments.

Then say your affirmation loud enough that you can  hear them. After you have completed a round, take a few deep breaths.

Stay still for a moment and absorb the healing energy. Try to repeat the affirmations around 4 times per day.

You can also write these affirmations in your journal daily. Also try to speak them out loud while you are writing them.

You can use the Heart chakra affirmations in the graphic I have provided to shift heart chakra blockages and adopt a more loving and happy outlook.

essential oils for heart-chakra

9. Essential Oils

Essential oils have already been used for thousands of years for their healing powers. Their use in chakra balancing has become more and more poular since the pandemic.

Here are some of my favorite 3 essential oils for releasing heart chakra blockages and inviting more love and compassion into your life.

  1. Rose: Rose oil is well known for its ability to promote love, compassion, and emotional healing. You can place the oil in a diffuser and let the aroma fill the room. Alternatively, you can add 2 or 3 drops to a carrier oil like almond oil and apply it directly onto your heart center. Use round motions to massage the area with the oil gently.

  2. Lavender: Lavender makes a really calming and soothing oil that can help you to ease anxiety. You can use it in the same way as the rose oil. Additionally I love to add a few drops into my bath water.

  3. Ylang Ylang: This essential oil has a beautiful sweet and floral scent. It can help you to balance your emotions and promote more inner peace. Again you can use a diffuser and enjoy the aroma or mix it with a carrier oil, apply it to your chest and inhale deeply.

crystals for chakra healing

10. Crystal Healing

Crystals have also become extremely popular in chakra balancing and reiki energy healing in the last few years. Each crystal is thought to have a unique frequency that resonates with our own vibration. Certain crystals have properties that can specifically help with releasing energy blocks and promoting feelings of love, compassion, and emotional wellness.

Here are some of my favorite crystals for heart chakra healing:

  1. Rose Quartz: Rose quartz is pink in color and that is often called the  “crystal of unconditional love.” It is often used in energy work to open the heart chakra and promote feelings of love and compassion.

  2. Green Aventurine: The vibration of green aventurine is well known to promote emotional balance and harmony. It is also thought to clear blockages in the heart chakra.

  3. Rhodonite: This pink and black gemstone is said to promote emotional healing. It is often used to help release past hurts and help in the process of forgiveness.

  4. Malachite:  In Crystal Reiki, this deep green stone is used to absorb negative energy itself. It is therefore a powerful aid to help clear heart chakra blockages.

So how do you use these crystals for heart chakra healing? In my opinion crystal healing works best when combined with reiki energy. However if you are not a Reiki practitioner, there are other simple ways to use crystals for energy work.

You can place a crystal on your heart charka or hold it in your hand and meditate for 10-15 minutes. You can also wear the crystal as a necklace around your chest to benefit from its vibration.

If you want to learn more about crystals and how to practice crystal reiki, I am currently offering a crystal reiki master course. You can check out the curriculum here.

reiki energy work

11. Reiki

If you’re want to balance your heart chakra using Reiki energy but are not trained or attuned to Reiki, you may want to consider visiting a Reiki practitioner. A practitioner will guide you through a heart chakra healing session and help you identify any blockages or areas of imbalance in your energetic body.

A practitioner will usually ask you to complete an intake form or to answer a few questions to get a sense of your overall wellbeing. This is also your time to tell them about your specific intention. So make sure tell them to focus on your heart chakra.

You will then be asked to lie down on a massage table or to sit in a comfortable chair.  During the session, the practitioner will channel the universal life force energy through their palms into your heart chakra. This energy can help to clear any blockages or areas of imbalance. If you never had a Reiki session before, you will be pleasantly surprised how soothing and relaxing a Reiki session feels.

Alternatively, if you’re interested in learning how to practice Reiki  yourself, you can enroll in my free Reiki Level 1 course. In the course, you will learn everything you need to know to practice Reiki on yourself and others. This includes how to use Reiki for Chakra balancing including how to release heart chakra blockages. Secure your free place in my course here.

gratitude for heart chakra healing

12. Gratitude

Gratitude is a powerful practice that can help you to promote heart chakra healing. By focusing on the things in your life that you are thankful for, you automatically shift your focus away from these nasty negative thoughts and emotions and you replace them with feelings of love and joy.

There are many ways you can practice gratitude. It can be as simple as taking a few minutes each day to reflect on all the things in your life that you are grateful for. I actually like to write all the positive things in my life down in my journal. I have included a free gratitude journal for you here to download and print out. Otherwise you can just scribble them down in any notebook.  If you do not like journaling you can also simply meditate on all that is going well in your life. Just take a deep breath and appreciate the beauty around you.

When you practice gratitude, you shift your whole energy towards positivity and abundance. This can have e a profound effect on your overall well-being. Most of all you open up to all the love and abundance that is already in your life, which helps to remove the heart chakra blockages that have been building up.

So, there you have it. 12 tips on heart chakra healing. Please remember though that removing heart chakra blockages is a process, so be patient and gentle with yourself as you nurture the love and compassion that is already within you.

Sending lots of love, lights and blessings
