What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is the oldest known system of natural medicine, thought to date back 5,000 years to the sacred texts of India. The Sanskrit word means “science of life.” Unlike conventional medicine, which mainly treats disease, Ayurveda treats the whole person, correcting imbalances with diet, herbs, daily routine and lifestyle so the body can heal itself.
Ayurveda is built on the five elements, Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth, which combine into three energies called doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each of us is born with our own blend, usually led by one or two dominant doshas. That blend is your Ayurvedic constitution, or prakriti. When your doshas are balanced you feel well; when one rises too high, imbalance shows up as poor digestion, restless sleep, anxiety, skin issues or low energy. Learn your dosha, and you have a practical map for staying in balance.
The Three Doshas at a Glance
Each dosha is a pairing of elements that governs different functions in the body and mind. Most people are a blend, led by one or two.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a dosha?
A dosha is your Ayurvedic mind-body type, formed from the five elements. The three doshas are Vata (Air & Ether), Pitta (Fire & Water) and Kapha (Earth & Water). Your unique blend, usually led by one or two, is called your constitution, or prakriti.
How do I find out my dosha?
Take the free dosha quiz. It’s a 32-question assessment that reveals your dominant dosha and whether you’re a single, dual or tri-dosha type. You can take it before or after downloading the guide.
Is the Ayurveda guide and dosha quiz really free?
Yes. Both the dosha quiz and the full “Ayurveda, A Guide to Wellness” ebook are completely free. Just enter your email to receive the guide, and you can take the quiz any time.
What’s the difference between Vata, Pitta and Kapha?
Vata governs movement and the nervous system (light, dry, cold). Pitta governs digestion and metabolism (hot, sharp, oily). Kapha governs structure and immunity (heavy, slow, stable). Each has balanced and imbalanced traits, and the guide shows how to pacify each one.
Can I have more than one dominant dosha?
Yes, most people do. Many of us are dual-dosha types such as Vata-Pitta or Pitta-Kapha, and a rare few are balanced across all three (tri-dosha). The guide includes chapters for dual and tri-dosha constitutions.
Do I need any experience with Ayurveda?
None at all. The guide is written for beginners, starting from the basics, the five elements, the doshas, Agni and the six tastes, then moving into a simple, practical plan for your type.
What will I learn from the guide?
You’ll learn your dosha and how to support it with an Ayurvedic diet, balancing recipes, daily routines (dinacharya), seasonal practices and self-care rituals for longevity, better digestion and deep relaxation.
