what is reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy healing practice derived from Japan.  This healing is given through “laying on of hands” and is based on the concept that an invisible “life force energy” passes through us all. It is what keeps you, us and everyone alive.

If your “life force energy” is low, you are more prone to become ill or experience stress, but if it is strong, you are more capable of being happy and healthy.

You may be asking yourself, what does Reiki mean?Derived from two Japanese words: Rei, which means “God’s Wisdom or Higher Power,” and Ki, which means “life force energy.” Reiki is, thus, “spiritually guided life force energy.”

Reiki Treatments

An energy healing treatment feels like a lovely glow that pours through and around you. Trust me, once you experienced that glow, you will know.

The actual treatment addresses the full person, including the body, emotions, mind, and spirit, producing several therapeutic benefits. Relaxation and feelings of serenity, security, and well-being are just some of them. Many people have claimed miraculous outcomes.

Energy Healing is a simple, natural, and safe spiritual healing and self-improvement technique that everyone may utilize. Moreover, it has been shown to be useful in treating almost every known ailment and has a positive impact on your mood.  A consistent practice works in tandem with all your medical or therapeutic procedures to alleviate adverse effects and improve healing. Remember though that Reiki will not replace medical care when needed.

To actually practice reiki you will need to be “attunened,” in order to tap into the infinite stream of “life force energy.

A Reiki practice is not reliant on religion or spiritual growth but is open to everyone. Thousands of people of different ages and backgrounds have successfully completed the my course.

The history of Reiki

Reiki was developed in Japan in the early 1920s by Mikao Usui. After a period of fasting and meditation on Mount Kurama, Usui began teaching a hands-on healing method he called Usui Reiki Ryoho. One of his students, Chujiro Hayashi, refined the hand positions, and his student Hawayo Takata carried the practice to the West. Almost every Reiki lineage taught today traces back to these three teachers.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki works with ki, the life force energy that flows through you. A practitioner acts as a channel for this energy, placing their hands lightly on or just above your body. There is no massage, pressure or manipulation. The idea is simple. When your energy flows freely you feel calmer and more balanced, and Reiki is a gentle way to support that flow.

What happens in a Reiki session

You stay fully clothed and lie down or sit comfortably. The practitioner moves their hands through a series of positions over your head and body, holding each one for a few minutes. Many people feel warmth, a soft tingling or deep relaxation, and some simply drift into rest. A typical session lasts 45 to 60 minutes. Want more detail? The benefits of Reiki

People come to Reiki for many reasons. The most common is deep relaxation and stress relief. By calming the nervous system, a session can ease tension, quiet a busy mind and support better sleep and emotional balance. Reiki is a complementary practice that supports your wellbeing. It is not a cure for illness and is not a replacement for medical care, but it sits beautifully alongside it.

Is Reiki safe?

Yes. Reiki is gentle and non-invasive, with no pressure or physical manipulation, so it suits almost everyone. It works well as a complement to conventional treatment rather than a substitute for it. If you have a health concern, keep working with your doctor and use Reiki as extra support.

How to learn Reiki

Anyone can learn Reiki. The ability is passed on by a teacher through a short ceremony called an attunement, after which you can give Reiki to yourself and others. Most people begin with Reiki Level 1, then progress to Level 2 and Master level over time. You can start today with my free online Reiki Level 1 course, or book a Reiki attunement when you are ready.
